Brothers in arms, Jim & John Mc Cready are the 2005 Davidson Pairs Champions after an epic battle with fellow Gourock Park player Phil Owens and his partner Jay Reid in Saturday's Final. The Final match needed an extra end and it was the Mc Cready Brothers who claimed victory leaving their opponents in dire straights.
The day got underway at 10am as the first of the 48 competing pairs took to the greens for the early round-robin stages. The early morning rain cleared and conditions were perfect for this highly competitive and enjoyable competition which attracts bowlers from within Inverclyde and Argyll districts. The Bar was its usual vibrant place and the catering provided by the Ladies at Gourock Park was of course first class.
I wish to thank the hard working Bar staff, Hamish Ramsay, Arthur Rennie, Norma Ramsay and Kenny Mc Kinlay for their great work, the Gourock Park ladies, Greenkeeper Ian Brown for preparing the greens to be in excellent condition and finally, Crawford Car Centre for their continued support of this event.
