Jim Crawford and Graham Hair won the Mathie Pairs after a marathon battle with Terry Duffy and John Mc Fetrich. The score was 20 shots to 11 and many will view this as a rather easy victory for Jim and Graham, but apart from one terrible end, this was a game that was anything but one sided. Jim and Graham had a great start to the game and were 8 shots to 2 up after around 5 ends. They then took a giant leap towards the silverware when they gained a full house 8 shots in the next end as Terry and John's hopes took a huge big tumble to leave them looking well out of the running at 16 shots to 2 down after just six ends played.. Terry and John quickly put the indignity of losing a maximum shots score out of their heads and bravely fought on and ensured that their opponents could not take victory for granted. Shots for Jim and Graham became quite scarce over the next 9 ends and by end number 15 they had only managed to add another two shots to their tally as Terry & John battled back to make the score 18 shots to 11 with two to play. With the evening sunshine fading fast, the next end was a crucial one for both teams.and fortunately for Jim and Graham they finally secured the title with a double which ended the hopes of Terry and John. Well done to Jim Crawford and Graham Hair on their victory and also to Terry Duffy and John Mc Fetrich for never giving up the fight.
