Terry Duffy

Robert Grant got off to a flyer in the final against Terry Duffy and the scoreboard read 12 nil before Terry finally got himself out of the 'granny' position with a single shot.

Once I had finished taking my notes for the 'championship final', which was being played at the same time, I started to concentrate on this epic battle.  Robert although still way in front was being made to fight hard for every shot and when I joined the game the scoreboard read 17 v 10 in Robert's favour.

With the evening sunshine fading fast, Terry's excellent recovery was still on track and over the next three ends he had brought the deficit to just one single shot at 17 v 16 to ensure Robert knew he was not getting things all his own way.

At this stage they had been playing for almost two and a half hours and the quickly disappearing light was beginning to make conditions difficult for both players and spectators to see and of course judge distances.

Robert finally stopped Terry's amazing fightback at the next end to lead 19 v 16 and then with his last bowl of the next gain the two shots required to win the President's Singles in his Presidential year
Terry Duffy and Robert Grant
Its a lonely game when your 12 nil down!
Maybe Terry should have used his old set of size 50's
Robert's winning shot in the last end!
