The Gourock Park Seniors got off to a winning start in their series of Friendly games against Gourock and Grosvenor, in the first game they defeated the Seniors of Gourock by 83 shots to 64. Their next game is against Grosvenor.

Gourock Park have only a Triples and a Junior singles left in the Renfrewshire BA Championships after last fridays round of matches.

This Sunday (2nd June) sees the start of the SBA District 23 Championships at various Clubs around the area. I have the early round draws and these will be placed on the site in next few days and hopefully the results as i get them.

Where is our Summer? Thats the question that most Bowlers must be asking these days. So far the Greenock & District League games on tuesday nights have been spoiled by heavy rain and cold conditions, and on two occasions so far its has started to rain right on cue at 7pm just as the games are getting underway!  The conditions have made things difficult for the players to enjoy their game and I hope things improve soon.

Gourock Park suffered their worst league defeat in ages last night at the hands of Port Glasgow. Only Rodger Lynn's rink gaining a draw, saved us from a total whitewash! One player who can't be blamed for this defeat is myself. Why? Because believe it or not, i slept in for the 7PM start!. I had sat down to watch the news on telly after eating my dinner and promptly fell asleep. A phone call at 6.45pm woke me up and to my horror i discovered that I had no chance of making Gourock for a 7pm start. So i called our President, Ian Brown, to make sure that we had reserves on stand-by, which there was thankfully for me!.

I hear that some Clubs decided not to play their league matches in last nights torrentail rain and instead made arrangments to play them tonight instead. As a result of this my League results page may be delayed. Scores that I know of so far are Gourock Park 6pts IBM 6pts, Lady Alice 8pts Lady Alice/Inverkip 4pts.

It was nice to see a decent size article in The Greenock Telegraph reporting on the success of IBM member, Jimmy Bradley, on his history making feat on lifting all the "Senior Titles" at Inverclyde Indoor and also giving some much needed publicity to the great work done by the Indoor to encourage youngsters into the game.

7th May 2002
The Greenock & District Leagues got underway in true Inverclyde fashion. Just as the first jacks where being rolled up at the various Clubs around the district, the heavens opened and down came the rain!!. Hope this was not a sign of things to come? Robert Grant, now playing his bowls for IBM, marked his first competitive match against his old comrades with a fine display of bowling in difficult conditions to help his "rink" to a healthy win over a "Park" rink consisting of Jim Crawford, George Twaddle, Barry McClafferty and Guess who? Thats right! Me!! Think I am in for a long hard Season!

The Results and League Table will be published on this Site on Thursday evening around 10pm or earlier if its still raining.

1st May 2002
President Ian Brown's year got off to a great start last night in the Annual Presidents versus The Vice-Presidents Wapinshaw. Ians men defeated Vice-president Hamish Ramsay's by 61 shots to 36. The highest up Rink was a triples skipped by Archie Forbes along with Hugh Wilson (lead) and Tommy Monkhouse, they finished 13 shots up against John Lamb (Skip) Callum Anderson (Lead) and for the second time this Season the webmaster of this Site was on the wrong end of the highest scoring match!!
