The Yorkshire Trophy 2000

Gourock has two Bowling Clubs,Gourock Park and Gourock BC in Barrhill Road and every Season we get together to contest our Annual Friendly Battle!!,The Yorkshire Trophy. Members from both clubs look forward to this game in the hope of defeating the "Enemy"!!!!                                                   This years game was played on Saturday the 5th of August at Gourock Park. After losing out to Gourock BC last year,the Bowlers at Gourock Park were determined to win in back!!. President Brown welcomed President  W.P Anderson and the members of Gourock BC and wished them all a good game!.  Each Club put out six strong Rinks . Gourock Park bowlers were in fine form and ran out easy winners by 125 shots to 93 shots. Gourock Park had 4 winning rinks,one rink peeled and only one lost.The Highest up Gourock Park Rink were Gary Bradley,John Morrison,Tommy Docherty and Jim Crawford who were always in command(even after a few mid-game drinks or 2!!!) and finished 19 shots up. After the match the members of both clubs retired to the Clubhouse to enjoy a fine meal served up by the ever hardworking Ladies of Gourock Park.
