Jim Crawford

Jim Crawford must be thinking that he is the 'Jimmy White' of the bowling world after he yet again failed to win the Gourock Park Championship in what was his third final appearance. The Title went to John Kane after a match that failed to match the high standards that both players expect.
Jim got the better of John in the first ten ends and he lead by 8 shots to 3 with both players trying to get to grips with a fast green which appeared to have just one good hand in both directions. John eventually mastered his weight and quickly closed the gap to just two shots at the eleventh end and then took control as he powered his way into a 19 shots to 8 shots lead after twenty ends played.
Jim Crawford, who in the earlier 15th end, delivered what is every bowlers dread, the wrong bias, kept plugging away in the hope that he could somehow re-discover the form that took him to the final and he stopped the John Kane charge in the 21st end with a cool single, to finally get him off that eight shot mark that he had been stuck on for ten ends.
Any hopes he had of a full recovery were well and trully dashed in the next end when John gained the two shots required to enable him to add the 2005 Championship to the one he claimed in 1996.
