Final

Ramsay Crawford

George Twaddle

George Twaddle defeated Ramsay Crawford by 21 shots to 11 in this year's President's Singles Final, but although the score suggests that this was an easy victory for George, it certainly was not. Ramsay Crawford made George fight hard for this victory and both players produced some excellent heads of bowling.
I was'nt able to fully watch this game as I was marking  the Championship final in the next rink, but I  did see how close some of the heads where and some excellent shots played by both George and Ramsay.
The early rounds were close with it being all square at 4 all after seven ends played. George then took 8 shots to a single from Ramsay over the next 6 ends to lead by 12 shots to 5 at the thirteenth end.
Ramsay then recorded a brilliant full house followed by a single to make the score 12 shots to 10 shots in George's favour after fifteen ends.
The experienced George, then regained his grip on the game and eased slowly into a 17 shot to 10 shots lead with the finishing post in sight at the eighteenth end. Ramsay battled bravely on and took the next end by a single shot only to see his hopes disappear as George just got the upperhand over the next three ends, to win the game.

Congratulations to George for a hard fought victory and commiserations to Ramsay who can be proud of the way he played on the night
