The First ever AP Jess Trophy was won by Gourock Bowling Club on Saturday 3rd August at Gourock's Greens on Barrhill Road. This annual joust between Gourock's two clubs was previously known as the Yorkshire Trophy, but was played last year without a sponsor. The Local Butchers Firm AP Jess kindly stepped in and provided an elegant new trophy. On behalf of the two clubs, i wish to thank AP Jess for their support.
The Result like last year went Gourock BC's way with an 8 points win to 4 points over the men from The Park. The Shot score was Gourock 119 , Gourock Park 116.

The Players played 21 ends in reasonable weather and around the 17 end mark the scores were very tight as they retired to the Clubhouse for a fine meal served up by the Ladies of Gourock BC. Play then re-commenced to the finish.
With only one Rink still to finish the score was 6pts to 4pts in Gourock's favour and Gourock Park had to win this game to level the points and hopefully win on shots. However it was not to be and so it was Gourock 's name that will be first to engraved on the sparkling new trophy.
