Saturday 27th July Gourock Park's Davidson Trophy, which is sponsored by The Crawfurd Car Centre in Greenock, took place. The weather was rather damp and overcast but this did not prevent the 96 players competing from enjoying the day.
The Day began with 8 Groups of  6 pairs from a variety of Clubs, competing in a round robin stage and the Winner of each section going on to play in the knock-out stages until they were down to the last two.
The Final was between Billy McNeice and Tom Fay from Grosvenor BC & Campbell Barr and George Gurney from Ardgowan BC. This was a very close game with the score being Nine all going into the last end, but it was the Ardgowan Pair who scored a single to win the Trophy for the first time.
My thanks go to the Sponsors, Crawfurd Car Centre, to the hard working ladies of Gourock Park for the catering, the Gents who helped behind the Bar and to Norma Ramsay for looking after the scoreboard throughout the day. I hope everyone enjoyed the day and I hope to see you all again next year which will be our 75th Anniversary Year.
