The IBM Friendly 2002
The Annual friendly between Gourock Park and IBM took place on Tuesday 12th August. This Match was cancelled on two occasions last year and at one point it looked as if the weather would take its toll once more, after heavy rainfall throughout the district made the greens heavily saturated.
            Thankfully however, the weather improved just in time to allow 17 ends of Bowling at the IBM Bowling Green which was enjoyed by the players who took part. The score was 79 shots to 64 shots in IBM's favour.
                                 Highest up Rink for IBM was skipped by Robert Grant who along with J McCafferty (Lead), A Burrows (2nd) & J Murphy. Robert's Rink finished 23 shots up against a Gourock Park Rink skipped by Archie Forbes.  Highest up for Gourock Park was a Pairs, Andy Kearns(Skip) and Sammy Doak who won by 24 shots to 9 against Gary Bradley (Skip) & Hugh Wilson both of Gourock Park, but representing IBM on the night.
                                                                                            After the match the players retired to the IBM Social Club for a refreshing drink and a fine meal. Harry Gillan of IBM and Dougie Brown of Gourock Park presented the highest up rinks from both Clubs with their prizes, with  special booby prizes going to myself and Hugh Wilson for being the worst IBM Team on the night!!!!.
