The Lady Alice Bowling Club
Junior Competition
Almost 40 Kids aged between 8 and 16 took part today in the new Juniors Competition organised by Lady Alice Bowling Club.
The event was a huge success which was highly enjoyable for both the Kids taking part and the watching adults and parents.
The competition started with a round robin sectons stage in which each player playing at least 4 games of 6 ends. The winners of each section then went onto the knockout stages.
The standard of some of the bowling on display by these up and coming stars of the future was a delight to witness and all the kids taking part should be commended for providing a highly entertaining and competive afternoon of bowling.

The event was superbly organised by the Lady Alice and was sponsored by Blairs of Scotland.

The Competition was won by Gavin Piggot from Dunoon Arygll who defeated Gourock Park's Alan Jack in a highly entertaining final over 6 ends. Gavin came game back from 5 shots to 2 shots down after losing a 'four' in the third end to go onto win by 10 shots to 5 shots, including making up for the loss of that 'four' by gaining a full house himself in the 5th end.
Afterwards the Trophies were presented by the
Inverclyde Provost, Ciano Rebecchi, who also made a fine speech regarding his hope that competitions like this can be expanded on and to help the sport of bowling be more accessible to kids of school age within the Inverclyde area.
Speeches were also made by Lady Alice President, Stuart Granger, Jim Mc Ewan, President of the Greenock and District and also from Kerry Reid, representing the events sponsor, Blairs of Scotland.
