75th Anniversary Champion of Champions
Sunday 24th August 2004
The Champion of Champions tournament at Gourock Park was a great
success  and thanks must go to the Committee of the Club for the planning that went into organising this memorable event, which was  planned as part of the club's ongoing anniversary celebrations.
Play got underway at 10am with the Gents Champions and they were later joined just after 12 noon, when the Ladies started their event.
Due to the fact that I had work to go to at 12.30, i was only able to see the early stages of the gents games, but what i did see in these early games was quite remarkable. The standard of bowling that I saw was spellbinding and with so many of the great players have won the Championship of Gourock Park, from as far back as 1967, all playing against each other, i was so tempted to call in work and report that i had suddenly came down with an attack of flu because i simply hated the thought of not being able to witness this memorable part of Gourock Park's long history.
The Format of the event was played in a round robin style with both the Gents and Ladies being split into two groups, with the winner and runner-up of each group progressing into the next round.

In the Gents event David Rollo won group A with the runner up spot being claimed by Rodger Lynn, who had a superior
shots difference than Nicol House and Jimmy Bradley who all finished on the 6 point mark. Group B was taken by current Club Champion, Joda Reid who won all five of his games and he was followed into the next round by Dougie Twaddle on 8 points.
Group A in the Ladies event was won by Nancy Rennie who won all of her games and she was joined by Norma Ramsay.
Betty Dixon won all of her games in Group B and she was joined by Kate Ramsay in the next stage
In the Semi- Finals, David Rollo lost out to Dougie Twaddle and Joda Reid suffered his only defeat to go out against
Rodger Lynn.
The Ladies Semi-Finals saw Nancy Rennie defeating Kate Ramsay and in the other game, Betty Dixon made it through against Norma Ramsay
The Ladies Final was won by Betty Dixon who won in the extra end against Nancy Rennie, after both players had won a set each.
The Gents Final was won in 2 straight sets by Rodger Lynn over Dougie Twaddle, with the set scores of 7 v 3, 7 v 6
