Inverclyde's Senior Team lost in today's League Cup Final at Cumbernauld, losing to an impressive East Lothian team which had one of Scotlands most successful players, Willie Wood in their ranks. So for the second year running the Men from Inverclyde have to settle for the runner-up spot.

The Greenock & District Bowling Association held it's Annual General Meeting in the Grosvenor Clubhouse on Tuesday 11th.February and a full attendance of Clubs were present. Jim McEwan of Port Glasgow B.C. was elected as President for 2003 and the rest of the Committee are as follows :-  Vice President - Norrie Johnstone of
Kilmacolm B.C., Junior Vice President - Ian Creelman of I B M B.C., Secretary - John Freeburn of Grosvenor B.C., the Office of Treasurer will be addressed at next years meeting as there was not sufficient time to inform the Club's of the vacancy. The remaining Directors were elected in seniority; Mr.T.Johnstone of Birkmyre Park B.C., Mr.K.Livingston of Gourock B.C., Mr.K.Morrison of the Ardgowan Club, Mr.W.Hamill of Rankin Park B.C., and a new Director to the Association was Mr.D.Lynch of Parklea B.C. The meeting was informed that the next Club to be asked to fill a vacancy on the R.B.A. would be Birkmyre Park B.C. The meeting went well in general and there were no big surprises. There are no changes to the annual subscriptions. The meeting asked if the length of the Season could be extended and it was agreed that the Championship Finals would be played at the end of August with the Top Ten being played in the earlier part of August, using the same format as last season, which appeared to be popular. Wellington Park will be celebrating it's 150th.Anniversary this year and Gourock Park it's 75th.Anniversary and both of these Club's were given the best wishes of the Association and also their respective Presidents, (Mr.W.Quigley of Wellington Park and Mr.H.Ramsay of Gourock Park). President McEwan thanked W.Quigley for all of his years of hard work for the Association and Mr.Quigley replied by thanking all of the Club Secreatries for their assistance and the Association for doing him the honour of making their Honorary President. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair at 8.40p.m.

Gourock Park's Joda Reid has reached the Semi-Final of the National Pairs Singles at
Inverclyde Indoor. This is a remarkable achievement for Joda, who only started playing the indoor game last year.

The Inverclyde Indoor Seniors have won through to the final of the Indoor Seniors, after defeating Coatbridge today down at Prestwick winning by 6 shots overall. Well done lads! and good luck in the Final next week against East Lothian at Cumbernauld.

The Inverclyde Indoor Seniors have made it to the Semi- final stage of the Indoor Seniors championship after defeating Cumbernauld in the quarter-final.  They now travel to Prestwick this saturday to play Coatbridge for a chance to meet East Lothian, who have already reached the Final.

The Wellington Bowling Club
Was speaking to Andy Buchan the other day and he reminded me that the Wellington is celebrating its 150th Anniversary this year. So on behalf of everyone at Gourock Park, i wish President William Quigley and all the members of Wellington are successful year.



As expected, Hamish Ramsay, was tonight elected to the post of President of Gourock Park at our Annual general meeting, which was held at the Clubhouse.
                                                                                                 There were no other
nominations as President Ian Brown invited Hamish to lead the Club into its 75th year. This will be Hamish's second spell as President having filled this role in 1986. The Vice- President this year is Kenny McKinlay after being chosen as the ideal candicate to assist Hamish in this special season.I wish both of them all the best and hope they have a successful year.
                              Also at tonights meeting the Committe Members who will serve the Club in 2003 were elected, they are as follows-- Gary Bradley, Dougie Brown, John Hagen, Arthur Rennie, Michael Stevenson and Past President Ian Brown.
                                                                                   The Selection Committee, the Guys who have the tough job of picking the various league and competition teams are Jim Crawford, Rodger Lynn, Ian Brown and Dougie Brown.
