A Friendly Match took place last saturday between Gourock Park and Wellington Park as part of the
on-going events planned by both Clubs to mark important Anniversaries. The Wellington is celebrating its 125th Anniversary .
                            Four Rinks games took place at Wellington's Greens and Gourock Park gained victory on the day by a shots score of 43 to 35. The highest up rink from Gourock Park was Skipped by Terry Duffy, who along with Andy Kearns, Peter Hendry & Sammy Doak, finished 8 shots up. Clubs will meet once again later in the year for the return match at Gourock Park.



The Annual President's versus the Vice-President's Wapinshaw took place on Tuesday 29th April and
it was Kenny McKinlay's Men that took the victory on the night with a 53 shots to 45 shots win over
President Hamish Ramsay's side.
                                               The highest up Rink on the night was a 'triples' skipped by Ian
Brown along with Rodger Lynn and Jim Cameron who were representing the Vice-President, won by 9 shots against Archie Forbes,Kerr Livingston (G&D) and Sammy Doak.
                                                                                     Highest up for The President's team was a
'fours' skipped by John Lamb along with John Hagen, Dougie Brown and J O Brian. They finished 6 shots up against a Rink skipped by John (Basher) Freeburn, who was representing The Greenock &
District B.A., John's team was lead by A McCabe, Hugh Wilson (2nd) and Peter Hendry.
                                                                                                                            

Was saddened to hear of the  loss of one of Inverclyde's best known Bowlers, Bob Wasson of Gourock Bowling Club who passed away last week. Bob was a well respected bowler around the various Inverclyde Greens and I wish to pass my respects to his Family and friends.











The Draw's for the first four Gents Club competitions have been drawn and are now on the Site

Later on in the Season a 'Champion of Champions' event will be held at Gourock Park as part of our ongoing Anniversary celebrations, details to follow.

A 'Salsa' Night will be held at the Club on the evening of 17th May, so if your looking for a night with great music,dance and banter on a saturday, then Gourock Park is the place to be! Its a bring your dancing shoes, food and drink night.


All Members of Gourock Park are requested to be at the Club for 2pm prompt on the 24th May for an
Anniversary Photo, full uniform to be worn please. A Match between the Gents and Ladies will take place afterwards at 2.30pm. So please come along and be a part of 'Your Club's' history!.



This Saturday, 2 Rinks from Gourock Park will be travelling up to Glasgow's Fairfield BC as invited
Guests of our neighbours Gourock BC. The following saturday its the imfamous Stonehouse Friendly.
This game is probably the most looked forward too game of the Season and this year will not be any different. Unfortunately I will not make it this year, as although not for the lack of trying, i just couldnt get time off work at T-Mobile to be able to play. However as soon as I finish at 5pm, I will grab a fast cab down to the Club in plenty of time to catch the last few ends and the legendry sing-song.

The Final of The Pairs Competition at Rankin Park yesterday was won by Gourock Park's
John Kane and Jim McCready who defeated Norrie and Maureen McKillop.

As part of the Clubs 75th Anniversay celebrations Ladies and Gents of Gourock Park turned out in force today for the Ladies versus Gents Wapinshaw and also to gather for a special 75th Anniversary Photograph which was arranged to be taken.
                                                               Despite the poor weather at the start of the games, the members played 12 ends and was highly enjoyable for all concerned, although Carol Mc Monagle may disagree as Skip of a rink consisting of Betty Scott, Isobel Turner and Margaret Mc Connell, which lost by the highest margin on the day. Playing against John Hagen's Team, George Irvine, John Mc Fadyen and Dougie Brown, Carols 'Golden Girls' lost by 21 (Twenty one!!!) shots to 1 (ONE!!!). The result was however taken in the true spirit of bowling,
                                                                           Getting revenge for the Ladies Team was a Rink skipped by Nancy Hawthorn along with J Gillies, V Lee and A Scully, who won by an impressive 11 shots up against John Kane's Rink, Jim Munn, John Mc Cartney and Barry Mc Clafferty. Overall the score on the day was 130 shots to the Gents and 81 shots to the Ladies.
                                                                                                       After the Match all the Members enjoyed a fine spread of sandwiches, cakes and other tasties which for a change was served up by some of the Gents Members. The photograph's which were taken will appear on this site as soon as possible.


My Apolgies to anyone who has come on to the Site to find out Championship results from both IBM and Grosvenor Bowling Clubs. I m still awaiting the draw from IBM and although I do have the draw from Grosvenor, i have up to now been unable to place it on the site. I will endeavour to have both results pages up and running shortly.

The Rankin Park is proving to be a happy hunting ground for Gourock Park's John Kane and Jim Mc Cready who along with Michael Stevenson won the Rankin Park Invitation Triples despite losing their first game by 8 shots to 1. John and Jim earlier this month won the Pairs competition at the Rankin Park.
28th May

The Gourock Park Seniors or as they prefer to be called these days, 'the afternoon section' enjoyed a
86 shots to 78 shots victory over Gourock last wednesday. Six Rinks played and each Club won 3 games. The day was highly enjoyed by all who took part.
