The Civic Reception hosted by Inverclyde Council to celebrate our 75th Anniversary took place on Friday 26th September within the Municipal Buildings at Greenock. 30 Members from the Club enjoyed a fine evening of food, wine and entertainment.
Provost Cianno Rebecchi paid tribute to the Club's 75 years and to the Founder
Members, whom little is known off. He also praised the Club's long serving Members, in particular to President
Hamish Ramsay for his committement and hard work towards the Club's future progress. He also praised the
Web-Site and mentioned that it made enjoyable reading. The Club's efforts to encourage young people to take up the game was also highy praised
In reply, President Hamish Ramsay, thanked the Council for hosting the Reception and he also praised the excellent facilities at Gourock Park, which were provided by the former Gourock Town Council and successive Inverclyde Councils which have done them proud over the years. Hamish also praised this Web-Site and remarked that it is among the best of its kind in Scotland and invited those present to log on and view it.
Provost Rebecchi presented Hamish with a beautiful engraved salver to honour our 75th Anniversary and in return Hamish presented the Council with a 75th Year Pennant and each of the Councilors present with a 75th Anniversary Tie.

At the end of the evening I met with Provost Rebecchi to discuss what I wrote on this site and also to the Greenock Telegraph with regards to the possible closure of Council Clubs to public access on Sundays from next April. The exact conversation I will not go into, but from this chat I learned that no decision as been made on this matter and is simply an option that's been discussed.
To finish I just wish to thank Provost Rebecchi and Inverclyde Council for hosting an excellent evening for our Members and to President Ramsay for his praise of the work I do on the Web-Site and also special thanks to Kenny Mc Kinlay for not only his work in helping arrange the Reception, but also his endless work in organising the many other events during this special year.

Gourock Park Member, Dougie Brown, has won a 2 week Caribbean Cruise,by winning a Competition on Real Radio this morning. To win this fantastic trip of a lifetime, Dougie had to pick just one envelope from the five available which contained various prizes but one of them contains a 'Biscuit'. Dougie picked on number 3, the age of his Granddaughter, and resisted the temptation to give it back in return for £1,050 to find out what was in his chosen envelope and hope that it was not the dreaded 'Garibaldi Biscuit'  Luck was on Dougie's side though as DJ Robin Galloway, eased Dougie's nerves by revealing that the biscuit was in envelope number 1 meaning that he had won one of the major prizes.
Tune in to Real Radio and you might just hear a clip of Dougie's success.
