24th March 1939    After pressure from members the local Council obtained costing to build a new top green for £630 from
                           J & D Provan of Barrhead plus an additional £32 to build the connecting steps. To help pay for this the
                           Council withdrew the Season Ticket which meant that members had to pay for each game. A protest                               by the members was held shortly afterwards in the Gamble Halls, were they pointed out that they
                           played on average, 40 'Wapinshaws' a year and nine 'Home Matches' where you pay for your opponent
                           out of courtesy.

7th October 1938   At the AGM the Club Committee were instructed by Members to draw up a Constituition and Rules.
29th March 1940   An advert in the 'Gourock Times' stated that any Member of His Majesty's Forces in Uniform could                                  play bowls at Gourock Park for half price
18th January 1940   Ex Provost Young Donald, donated a Trophy which was later to be called 'The Young Rose Bowl

9th January 1940   100 Copies of the Constituition were ordered from the printers at a cost of £2 11/6
13th April 1940     The new top Green was opened by Ex Provost Young, he was given a present of 15 shillings
7th March 1941   After a vote of 11 v 3 in favour, the Club asked permission from the Council to open on Sundays
                        from 11am - 11pm with Wapinshaws to start at 8.15pm to allow factory workers to take part.
20th March 1944    At the AGM it was confirmed that Membership stood at 44
March 1943       The Club Secretary enquires about the Club joining the SBA as Public Greens with certain qualifications
                         maybe allowed to join
29th March 1943    President J Lawrie suggested a local league against Gourock, Fort Matilda and Gourock Ex Service                                    Clubs.
18th April 1944     Application to join the SBA was turned down, a fresh application was submitted later that year to the                                 SBA and also the RBA

24th April            RBA application successful
14th June 1945  The Club competes in its first ever RBA Competitions
5th April 1945    The Club finishes 13th out of 72 in first ever County Cup
2nd May 1946  Both Gourock Clubs share Bus travel to league games in the G&D
