Gourock Park icon,Robert Grant has not had much luck this Season, knocked out of the Club Championship and Presidents singles at an early stage, losing out in the RBA Triples Final, early exit in The Davidson, but tonight at Grosvenor in our last league game of the Season, poor Robert and his Rink suffered the indignity of losing an EIGHT!!!!!!!!!. Word soon passed around the green of the luckless Robert's fate, but worse was to come when they returned to the Clubhouse for the after match cuppa.Robert was getting pelters from his fellow players of Gourock Park.At the end of President W Burnie's speech, the players of Grosvenor stood up to applaud the "Park's" Members and while doing so,all four of the Rink that took the "EIGHT" of Robert, all held up large "Number 8's" on white cards. The place was in hysterics as poor Robert probably wished the ground would open up and swallow him under.
Robert then had to stand up and do "the reply" and he did this in his usual "Hello there" and gave another one of his legendry speeches and of course one of his "Jokes"  Never mind Robert  am sure you will put this behind you and get back to being the "Gr eight" player we all know you are.

Despite Robert's misfortune,Gourock Park secured the points they required to ensure that we would stay in Division 1 for next Season.with a fine EIGHT points to four over Grovenor 8 Team, sorry!!!!!!! A Team

Unfortunately I was unable to update the site recently due to my PC being knocked out of action by a water leakage from the Flat above mine! Thanks to my 5 year extended warranty( " am I glad I took that out?") everything is now in working order and I will catch up with the updates as soon as possible
The Quiz however will not be updated until Sun 22nd.

From 30th September,Homestead, the service I use to build this Website, will be changing from a "free service" to a subscription based service. It therefore is now very important that the site continues to attract sponsorship to enable me to keep this site operating and expanding the way it has been! So!!! Can I ask all my regular visitors to pass the word around about this site to friends, family and workmates to ensure that this site will continue to receive a healthy number of hits  each week and make it a worthwhile place for any business to sponsor Gourockpark.co.uk. Also if you or your Company would be interested in sponsoring this site? Please contact me for details

11th July

July 7th 2001

Firstly I wish to apologise for the lack of updates within the last week.

Several players from the Inverclyde area will be taking part in "The Largs Open" starting on the 16th of July, including Grosvenor's Alan Bradley.Alan will be trying to win this popular event for the third time after previous success in 1996 & 98.

I have added some more links to the site,"Raintown" is an excellent site about Port Glasgow, its well worth a look. Connellys Bar in Greenock is a very well constructed site with many features to enjoy and finally I have added Lindfield Bowling Club in East Sussex to the Bowling links page.

Results of last month's "Poll" is now available
