The Greenock & District Championship
Finals Day
30th August 2003
Crawford Charles of Fort Matilda Bowling Club is the Greenock & District Singles Champion for Season 2003 after a fine victory over
Hugh Dodds from Lady Alice by 21 shots to 7. This makes it a double 2003 success for Crawford following his S.B.A. District Singles win earlier this Summer.
In the Pairs, it was the strong Port
Glasgow Duo, Sandy Wotherspoon and Freddy Kimmons, that claimed victory over Tom Dunn and G Mc Callum, with a winning score of 21 shots to 12.
The Junior Singles Final was a repeat of last years epic between Gourock Park's Michael Stevenson and Grosvenor's Brian Gorry. However there was no revenge for Michael, as once again Brian proved he has the winning touch, winning by 21 shots to 12.
The Triples Championship went to Ardgowan, with B Osborne, J Houston and Campbell Barr overcoming Fort Matilda's
W Burnett, Willie Thompson and Steven Thompson by 17 shots to 13 shots.
The Fours was won by Gourock Bowling Club's Billy Delussey, R Robinson, Stuart Mc Clure and skipped by Bob Scott, who was especially pleased to add this victory to last years 'Fours' Title. The Gourock Men defeated Inverkip's W Mc Gregor, A Anderson, E Gallon and J Morrison by 15 shots to 11.
The Senior Fours Title went to Port Glasgow's Donald Cameron, Eddie Docherty,
Duncan Sorrie and Jim Quyae, winning by 15 shots to 10 over Kilmacom's John Nicol, Jack Taylor, Eric Mc Kechnie and Robert Wright.
